The EKE Team
Emily Katherine Events would not be able to take on as many wonderful weddings as we do without our amazing team! In addition to our two full-time planners (pictured here), we have a fabulous team of part-time assistants that assist on weekends. We also partner with other local wedding planner friends when we need extra hands, or if an emergency should come up and we need a substitute coordinator. These women make it possible for us to stay fully booked without sacrificing the attention to detail we have always provided. Plus, it will give you peace of mind knowing that even if your planner comes down with the flu the day before your wedding, another EKE team member will be able to step in and execute your perfect day (without getting all your guests sick)! Hey, it hasn’t happened yet but we like to be prepared!
Chief Wedding Planner and Mischief Manager
- Went to Appalachian State University, where she learned the least painful ways to fall while snowboarding.
- Lover of games: board games, card games, lawn games; ALL the games! Latest favorites include Wingspan, Cat in the Box, and Codenames. Always ready for a Spades tournament!
- Lives in Durham with her husband, baby boy, and two doggos, Jasper & Ginger.
Emily has always been a party planner, growing up turning any family event or holiday into an occasion to decorate and brainstorm all the themed details (she learned from watching her mom!). Her passion for weddings arose while planning her own in 2012, and she hasn’t been able to get enough since! After several years working as a wedding videographer and helping friends and family plan their weddings, Emily decided to follow her passion and launched Emily Katherine Events in 2015. She’s now a full time wedding planner, with an amazing team alongside her! When she’s not planning weddings, Emily’s likely out hiking with the family and exploring the beautiful parks in our state! Or binge watch Netflix while devouring Girl Scout cookies. It’s a toss up.
Eva, Resident Hufflepuff
Wedding Coordinator
“I can feel infinitely alive curled up on the sofa reading a book.” – Benedict Cumberbatch
A self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, Eva was drawn to weddings by the sheer amount of love that effuses from them. Eva began assisting with Emily Katherine Events in 2017, and these days she’s lead coordinating, assisting, and helping in the office, so you’re likely to meet her at some point before your wedding! Originally from Kent, Ohio, Eva currently lives with her wife and their menagerie of pets in Raleigh. When she’s not planning weddings, you’ll find Eva curled up in a blanket with a hot chai latte, knitting something while listening to an audio book.
A few of Eva’s favorite things…
- book genre (as if she could pick just one): “Romantasy”
- TV show: Great British Baking Show
- movie: Encanto
- video game: Mario Party

Shout out to our friend Stephen Thrift Photography for these photos! Check him out if you’re still looking for your wedding photographer!
“Emily was amazing to work with! She performed my day-of-coordination services, and she also helped me out my planning leading up to the wedding. She has tons of wedding experience, and with that, she was able to make the day go as smoothly as possible. The day of, all I had to do was get pampered and drink mimosas until the ceremony! She had everything covered – from handling the vendors that came to set up, to making sure everything and everyone was in their proper places, to handling my mother’s anxiety. She worked with the photographer and told us when/where to be for photos. She checked in on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed and reassure me that everything was going according to plan. She executed the ceremony flawlessly, and even when we had a fire alarm in the middle of the reception, she got everyone ushered outside (including the bar!) and handled the situation with perfect poise. I would recommend Emily again and again! She really did make my wedding day the best day ever.”
“There is so many wonderful things to say about Emily. I was not planning on having a day-of-coordinator or someone to help me with wedding planning but my sister told me about Emily and said I’d really like her. I certainly did! I can’t believe I thought I could have done it all without her help. She is very responsive and beyond that gives you suggestions and tips that she has gained over the years of her working in the wedding industry. So she is great at speaking up and giving you help that you might not even know you need. The other thing that I really loved about Emily is that she has such a calming spirit about her. As a bride you have moments where you just want to freak out but she is totally calm and put together and makes you feel the same. I also think that quality helps her work seamlessly with vendors who may be difficult to work with. There was nothing she wouldn’t do or help with and knowing I had her to support me and that I could trust her really made my day. She definitely went above and beyond and I can’t recommend her enough!”
“Emily was an amazing help for my husband’s 30th Vegas themed birthday party. She helped with everything from event and timeline planning, decorating, shopping and day of coordination. I couldn’t have had such a successful party without her help. She was extremely professional and fun! On the day of she dressed to fit right in with the crowd. I had a great experience from start to finish with Emily Katherine Events.”
Emily and her team were simply outstanding. From the moment I met with Emily 11 months before our wedding, I knew I didn’t want to look any further for day-of coordinators. Emily has an incredibly calming presence and was organized to a T. Even the day-of when we had to change our ceremony spot because of rain and our second photographer woke up sick, Emily remained calm and reassuring that everything would go smoothly, and it did. The EKE team is incredibly professional, down to earth, organized, communicative, and so kind – I loved working with all of them!
Best investment we made in our budget!
Emily was so great to work with. She really made the entire month leading up to the wedding stress free. She and her team worked so hard to make our venue look just how we imagined it. She is very professional, detail oriented, and has awesome ideas that just added to how special our wedding felt. She went above and beyond! I would absolutely recommend Emily if you live in the Triangle, at the very least for her coordination package in the last month. You won’t regret it!
You know those career aptitude tests you take in middle school? Well, if “wedding planner” were an option, I’m sure Emily got that result! Everything about Emily – her impressive organizational skills, her kind demeanor, her ability to roll with literally whatever comes her way while sporting a smile, her gentle yet effective way of keeping everyone on track – is suited for this job. As a bride who had no idea what I wanted my wedding to look like (while attempting to plan it in just four months!), it is not hyperbole to say the big day would not have happened without Emily. She had a magical way of guiding without imposing, which is not an easy balance! Emily was super kind and sensitive to me and my family, was the impeccable professional in communicating with other vendors (who all adored her, by the way!), punctual in following-through with everything, incredibly responsive and available, thoughtful with big and small details, and (especially considering our timeline) a literal miracle-worker. (Like helping get dirt stains out of my dress train after rainy pictures at the ceremony!) I feel confident in saying that working with Emily will be the best decision you make in your wedding planning adventure… it certainly was mine!
