First blog post! Better make it a good one… How about this fantastic farm wedding in Valle  Crucis, NC?

I loved this wedding for many reasons. A big one is that the bride and groom are good friends of ours. We’ve known Wilson since freshman year of college at Appalachian State University! So yea, Hubster was a groomsman, and I had the privilege of directing their ceremony and reception.

After Kyle and I got married, we were pretty sure Wilson and Ashlyn would be next. But Wilson took his time proposing, and we were starting to wonder if other friends might beat them to it.

Nope! Wilson finally popped the question last summer, at Valle Crucis Community Park, where they had spent many early dates (running dates, which is just one example of the many ways Ashlyn has been a great influence on him). Anyway, yeah, they are adorable.

When Wilson and Ashlyn asked me to be their Day of Coordinator I was so excited! I got to check out their venue (River Run Farm) last summer during their engagement photo shoot. I love this place! River Run Farm is in Valle Crucis, where both of them grew up, so it was really the perfect venue for them.

They rented River Run Farm for the whole weekend, so they were able to have their Rehearsal Dinner at the farm as well. Tables were set under the covering outside the barn, and I  know  Kyle and I sure had a good time. Tasty tacos from The Peddlin’ Pig, corn hole and ladder golf, and after dinner all the girls pitched in to put the last finishing touches on the next day’s floral arrangements.

I absolutely loved all the DIY charm in the details of this wedding!

From the personalized root beer favors, to the hand picked mason jar flowers, every bit of this wedding was carefully thought out and executed by Ashlyn and her friends.

So anyway, here’s their wedding, courtesy of Infinity Images!

Ashlyn and Wilson chose a tree planting as a unity ceremony. The tree they potted together is now happily displayed in their home!
